Courtney Shanade Salter, also called Ari Lennox, a Washington, D.C.-based American singer/songwriter, was signed by the label's debut female singer for Dreamville Records by J. Cole. Her first EP, Pho on October 21 2016, was released on Dreamville Records. She began to gain fame. Shea Butter Baby, her debut studio album, debuted on the 7th of May, 2019. Ari Lennox first posted music online in 2012. She released her debut album Ariography and debut mixtape in 2013 with the mixtape Five Finger Discount. The year 2014 saw her release more music via the Internet including Bound. The track Sweat it is featured on Omen's Elephant Eyes album, which was released on July 21 2015. The following year, her music began to circulate all over the Dreamville team, as J. Cole wanted her to work with him on some references for Rihanna. It was announced on December 8, that she had signed with Dreamville Records. She was featured on the joint album Revenge of the Dreamers II featuring the track Backseat Cozz. In the month of October, she released her first EP, Pho. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change as well as performing on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as an opening act. in 2018, the singer-songwriter guested on two tracks by EarthGang On Nothing but the Best, and Bas, on Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single, Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on the 16th of July in 2018, which was released on July 16th, 2018. A music video followed by a music video in September. In November, she released her singles 40 Shades of Choke & Grampa. Two additional singles were also released by her on 11/13 with the titles Pedigree and One. Shea Butter Baby is a track that she recorded alongside Cole on Creed II's soundtrack on the 16th of November. It then came out as a stand-alone single in February 2019 to coincide with the release of her debut album. In February, her music video to this track was launched. The song has received more than three million YouTube views in just one week. In December 2018 she was an opening act for From East Atlanta With Love Tour. From East Atlanta With Love Tour in conjunction with 6LACK.
